Do You Offer A Free Trial?
Nope. But You can cancel any time you like if you're not happy with it 😭.

Why do I need to create a Gumroad account when I subscribe?
[Gumroad]( is one of the most secure and well known payment/subscription platforms on the internet. When subscribing to The Racquet you'll only be asked to provide an email (so we can deliver The Racquet to you!) and a password on the payment page. Once you've subscribed you'll never need to login/interact with or use Gumroad unless you want to cancel your subscription or change your email address. You can read more about what makes them so secure here.

Will The Racquet always be $3.96 per month?
No. I like the idea of rewarding the first group of subscribers with a discounted price. This won't last very long. If you subscribe at this price, you will never have to pay more regardless of what newer members are paying.

I have a question that isn't covered.

What's the story here?

Who are you?
My name is Matt, I live in London and have a normal day job in tech. I've played tennis since I was 4 years old and slowly graduated to playing varsity tennis at college/university. My backhand is inexplicably better than my forehand. I guess that makes me a budget version of Benoit Paire 🤷♂️

If you're wondering why you should read what I have to say about tennis, see for yourself: sign up to The Racquet, have a look at the next issue and if you find it as ineffective as Rafa's sweatbands, you can always unsubscribe. No hard feelings 😭

Here's a recent issue so you can get a better idea of what it's like.

Why are you building this?
IMO there is far too much tennis news to keep up with, especially when a tournament is going on. I wanted a concise, round up of everything worthwhile that happens each day/week, whether that be results, stats, GIF's or the latest player news. I will have succeeded when you as a reader can get back after a days work/studying/whatever, open up The Racquet, and still feel just as informed/in-the-loop as if you had spent all day looking at tennis Twitter/Reddit/MTF etc.

What are your future plans for the Racquet?
I want to build a community of people who LOVE watching, playing and/or talking about tennis. It feels like the way that most people follow the sport hasn't changed much over the years. It's still the same old journalists/publications/TV-coverage who can be prone to chasing clicks in exchange for quality/accuracy. It's my intention that the Racquet will never need to be clickbaity or full of fluff. It will always keep the same, straightforward and simple, formula:

Concise, no-bullshit tennis news and analysis.

My short-term roadmap for The Racquet is as follows. As the community grows, over the course of the upcoming months, the plan is to introduce a paid version sometime after Wimbledon (don't worry there will always be a free version) and start releasing:

1. Weekly YouTube videos
2. The Racquet Podcast
3. Daily Twitch Streams during the biggest tournaments.
Why no love for the WTA?
Unfortunately between covering the ATP and working a day job I wouldn't be able to do the WTA justice coverage wise. There is SO much information/news to cover, each and every day during tournaments, which means that I'd prefer to double down on ATP news/info, rather than spread myself too thin trying to cover both. Never say never though :)

Thanks for reading and feel free to reach out and tell me what you think.
